Dancing in the Minefields #8

Today, a little personal background...

The public conversation about race in America changed a lot in the years we lived overseas. We tiptoed into the conversation as soon as we knew we'd be moving to a city with a tense racial past as a multi-racial family. I said, "We are stepping into this story whether we know what the story is or not. We might as well know it."

While still living overseas, I joined the Be the Bridge Facebook group, read The Warmth of Other Suns, and started Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?

That interest only grew once we moved to our racially diverse place with black landlords, a Be the Bridge group at church, and friend both black and white who want to have these hard conversations face-to-face. As this series continues, I wanted to share a little bit of how our family got here. You are invited to share your own story with me, as well.
