Snowman hot chocolates

Around Christmas time, Philip's aunt Beth sent a package with all the supplies to make these adorable  snowmen hot chocolates. The kids didn't see the box, so I closed it up and hid it away for the first available snow day, which blew in while Philip was in Africa. It was magical to pull this treat out, watch Emily put her artistic flair to work, and indulge the children from inside our warm house.
When coronavirus started disrupting life back in the spring, we recognized it was easier to let the world shut down since we could take long family walks in the beautiful park. Back then we thought "normal" would return by summer, and I remember saying, "It's a good thing the virus didn't come in the winter. It would be impossible to handle the the cold and the isolation simultaneously."

The snowmen smiling at us from the mug beg to differ.  We (that's a bigger "we" than my family and includes you) ARE doing it. We are living (and enjoying!) life in a pandemic in winter.  What feels "normal" now is a reminder that we are stronger than we thought possible, proving what we often chant with Anne: "I can do hard things!"  We are doing it.
