Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6
We are currently in the midst of another birthday season and this one comes with a fun story of our Father's love...
The night before Titus' birthday it became evident that he was looking forward to opening gifts. Well, we don't generally do gifts, so we had bought nothing and had no plan to buy anything. As I saw it, there were two options.....
#1 Go buy cheap junk just so he'd have gifts to open
#2 Impulsively spend a bunch of money to get something good before the morning
I asked the Lord for guidance knowing that neither of the choices sounded good to me, but a broken hearted birthday boy would have been much worse.
Wouldn't you know He had the best idea yet?
Hidden in our attic all these years has been Philip's PIRATE LEGO set from the 1980s. The whole set, stored in the box and all. You do know how BEYOND PERFECT this gift is for this little boy, don't you?!
As if it could get any better, He reminded me a perfect gift for Sweet Pea (birthday two weeks away at that point) was stored in the closet.....my American Girl doll, also over two decades old. Sweet Pea's right in that emerging reader stage, so having a doll that comes with her own story books is AMAZING.
The PERFECT gifts.
And it didn't cost us a penny or a bit of stress or a run to the mall.
It's mind-boggling, really.
I know God's in the big stuff like fighting human trafficking and poverty and broken hearts, but here He is showing up in the little stuff like my kids' birthdays, too.
Love it.

Love this story!! This will be a great one to tell them through the years!
I love this story too! Some of my favorite gifts from you guys are creative recycled or acts of service--God has your back in the gifts department, lol ;-) Love that pirate ship and AG doll!
