Birthday Party!

A year ago I started planning and dreaming up a birthday party for Philip's 30th birthday. For once in our married life, I wanted to make it an all-out-big-deal. A Frisbee golf party with all our friends? A destination party where all our family could be there? Do you know what he said? "If I could do anything, I'd want it to just be the two of us." Awwww. New plans! So, I pooled both of our birthday money from my wonderful family and his mom agreed to watch the kids and I researched all the romantic bed and breakfasts in their area and narrowed it down to three. I presented him with the three romantic options OR take a risk on THIS place......
It's like a family resort hotel with an indoor waterpark that is only open to their lodge guests, but I wasn't sure if it'd be totally lame without kids. He went for it and it could not have been more perfect! We started at Pappasito's.....bacon-wrapped shrimp and pineapple pico de gallo for birthday lunch

Then on to the waterpark to play like a couple of kids!

A snack basket with a few of his favorite things

I didn't feel too bad about all the junk we ate because the waterpark was one continuous workout since there were no lines. At all times we were either walking up three or four flights of stairs (depending on the ride), screaming or laughing our way down (depending on the ride), or in the anything-but-lazy river battling waves and currents around us and waterguns and water buckets from up above. So much fun!

Do you see that red and yellow tube slide? SO SCARY (and fun)!

If you can see my face, it says, "AHHH! We're alive! I can't believe it! I think that was almost fun."

Thanks for sharing your birthday with me, Philip! More importantly, thanks for sharing life with me. You're the best!

Oh my goodness - this is so fun! What a great 30th b-day celebration!! Your pictures are precious and I am loving your smile!!

I went home last year for my class reunion and stayed at a hotel w/ a slide/pool. I had totally forgotten how much fun it is! Definitely makes you feel young again (a welcome feeling as we near 30). :o)
