It wasn't until we got down into that valley that I learned we were in the area of Loveland. An aptly chosen name, I choose to translate it as the "land of God" - for God is love. Just a beautiful place for a ski area or a strengthening moment with God our Father.

Mountain Moment
Something about driving through the mountains causes our family to burst out with songs to our Lord. On the drive down the mountain we were singing a song that says, "As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people....Surround us, oh Lord...." From my window I had a beautiful panoramic view of the mountain range and could look down into the valley circled by mountains. I could grasp the power of being surrounded by the Lord by picturing being in that little valley.
It wasn't until we got down into that valley that I learned we were in the area of Loveland. An aptly chosen name, I choose to translate it as the "land of God" - for God is love. Just a beautiful place for a ski area or a strengthening moment with God our Father.

Love that song! That's what I sing to my boys when they're sad or have gotten hurt. It's comforting for them and allows me to gently pray over them as they calm down.
I always want to break into praise songs when I see my mountains, too! Its great to know I am not alone. They are so majestic - a gift from our creator!
Now I have that song stuck in my head - LOL.
Fun fact: ppl will drive to the post office to get the "Loveland" postal stamp on their Valentine's cards being sent all over the US. Supposedly the post office is really busy before V-day all b/c the name of the town. I have a friend whose family lives in Loveland and they think its silly.
