In the dead of winter....

I will return to this post for encouragement. As the leaves are beginning to fall and the weather is cooling off, this is my final tribute to a few summertime treats. :D

It may just be pureed watermelon, but when I first had it in the blistering heat of summertime Mexico a decade ago, it tasted like heaven. The best watermelon this summer I bought from a little old man who just had a few to sell in the back of his truck. Delicious!

We eat chips and homemade salsa like a main dish around here! This year we were blessed to grow tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos...our own salsa garden!

I eat cantaloupe and cottage cheese as a meal, but I'm the only one. We've started growing Emerald Gem melons and they've been really wonderful.

This is a specialty dish we call an ice cream Reeses. It's just chocolate ice cream with a spoonful of peanut butter swirled in and topped with chocolate syrup. Perfect after a good meal on a hot day.

I could go on and on about the succulent berries and the fresh herbs, but then I already have on other posts. I'll just have drool about it 'til next year and enjoy what the coming seasons have to offer.
