Like We're On Vacation

The most incredible blessing this week was a second air-conditioning window unit. Our whole house is supposed to be cooled by a single window unit. It's highly inadequate in the heat of the summer. All we had budgeted for was a new fan - $30 - to at least distribute the small amount of cool air. In trying to keep this story short, I'll just say we didn't tell anyone of our desire for better cooling. (A second window unit was not even in our dreams! We just wanted something.) I spent two days meditating on our heavenly Father knowing all our needs before we ask and acknowledging that this was not a need. Wednesday the Afterschool Program presented me with a "thank you" gift certificate. When combined with our $30, it was enough for another air-conditioner! I know God doesn't always give us the things we want, but this was one example of our Father in heaven giving good gifts to his children. The next morning Philip had it installed and it has transformed our bedroom! Each year we do an "air-conditioner challenge" trying to make it longer without turning on the air than we did the previous year. So, we haven't turned on the air for the rest of the house and do our work all day in the heat. Then at night, we retreat to our cool bedroom. The first night Philip said, "It's like we're on vacation." It's just that wonderful. In fact, it's even better than vacation because it's right here in our own home. Thank you, Lord! Of all that could be considered "nesting" I think that air conditioner is as close as I've come. It has prepared me more for laboring at home and bringing home a newborn than anything else I could have done.

With that said, come on kid! There's still a week until the due date, but I hope to not wait that long. Anytime is good for me. :D

God is good! I'm so excited you are "cool" people now! Besides, being cool makes it easier to relax . . . breathe deeply . . . visualize those contractions . . . oops, sorry! Got carried away! Come on, little one!
